Throughout its history and today, Food Lion strives to be a caring neighbor and good corporate citizen in the communities it serves. Through corporate and foundation giving, campaigns carried out by its more than 1,200 stores in 11 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states, local programs and individual employee involvement, Food Lion supports its communities and numerous non-profit organizations. One of Food Lion's primary concerns is caring for the hungry. Food Lion partners with America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. All Food Lion stores are urged to partner with a local food bank program. In 2005, through corporate donations, company campaigns, food drives and individual store contributions, Food Lion gave 22.8 million pounds of food, totaling approximately $34.2 million, to Second Harvest affiliates in 11 states. www.foodlion.com

Harris Teeter has partnered with Second Harvest to make sure the less fortunate in our communities don't go hungry. Through our food donation program that supplies products to charitable agencies and our reclamation program for damaged goods, we give millions of pounds of food each year through Second Harvest. www.harristeeter.com

In the United States, we make product donations exclusively to America's Second Harvest's national network of more than 220 food banks and food rescue organizations, which provide food to more than 50,000 local hunger relief programs.
